Check-in at Máttaráhkká Northern Lights Lodge, where you will also be provided with a snowmobile helmet, balaklava, two-piece down set, shoes, mittens, and goggles. Safety review of the snowmobiles and safety equipment, as well as an action plan in the event of an accident. After the review, we go for a short snowmobile ride, during which you can get to know the snowmobile before venturing out on your grand adventure the next day. After the ride, you can enjoy the sauna and a 2-course dinner at the Lodge.
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast buffet, we load our gear onto the snowmobiles that will take us through lowlands and the Swedish tundra. Our final destination is 180 kilometres away. Waiting for us upon arrival in the small village of Kilpisjärvi, bordering Norway and Sweden, are a wood-burning sauna, an ice hole, and a 3-course dinner. The night is spent at a hotel.
Day 3
During our snowmobile ride from Finland into neighbouring Norway, you’ll experience the magnificent scenery of steep mountain slopes descending straight down into the ice-cold sea by Hatteng. After lunch, we head to the fishing paradise of Rostujávri, where we end the day after about 170 kilometres of stunning snowmobiling with a wood-burning sauna and dinner. The night is spent in mountain cabins in roadless country.
Day 4
From the fishing paradise of Rostujávri, we cross the tundra down to the woodlands and head for Jukkasjärvi, where we visit the world famous ICEHOTEL with its stunning fairy-tale world of ice and snow.
After our visit to the ICEHOTEL, we exchange our snowmobiles for sled dog teams. Along with the sled dogs, we cross the Tärneälven River. After the taiga forest, we arrive at our wilderness camp, where a real gourmet dinner awaits. In the evening, after traveling about 190 kilometres across mountains and through forests, you can warm up in the wood-burning sauna.
Day 5
Wake up to howling sled dogs. After enjoying your breakfast to a beautiful view of the forests, it’s time to drive your own team of sled dogs back to the kennel in the little village of Jukkasjärvi. From here, we snowmobile back to the starting point, Máttaráhkká Northern Lights Lodge, where we end our 560-kilometre journey that has taken us through 3 different countries, across mountains and the Norwegian fjords. With memories for life, you board our minivan for transfer to Kiruna Airport.
